Garnet
Garnet is mined from almandite garnet deposits. Garnet is chemically inert, a naturally occurring mineral known for its high density, high hardness and chemical resistance. Garnet filter media high density ensures that it remains beneath sand layer after backwash, its high chemical insolubility makes it ideal filter media. Garnet filter media is used as polishing layer with fine grain size, it is used in multimedia filters where high removal rates are required to protect downstream process units. Coarse Garnet can be used as a good replacement of support gravel due to its high density.
